Nuclear Safeguards Policy Internships

Held in the summer at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Students selected will receive a $6,000 stipend for basic expenses (e.g. accommodation, meals, and incidentals).

Activities

  • Attending a one-week intensive course on international safeguards policy and information analysis
  • Drafting and presenting an original research paper on an international safeguards policy topic
  • Receiving individual mentoring by Lawrence Livermore staff
  • Interacting with staff working in various technical fields
  • Participating in regular video teleconferences with professionals within the DOE laboratory complex

Eligibility and Selection

Applicants must:

  • Be a currently enrolled graduate student -or- a young professional in the nuclear nonproliferation field
  • Demonstrate how a deeper understanding of international safeguards policy will aid their professional pursuits
  • Be a U.S. citizen
