High Ranking Officials Praise MIIS at 2015 Carnegie Conference

July 16, 2015

The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) offers a professional Master’s degree in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies (NPTS). NPTS students benefit from professional development opportunities provided by the Institute’s James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) and its long-time director Dr. Bill Potter. As the following video clip attests, the training at MIIS was praised by high-ranking officials speaking at the March 2015 International Nuclear Policy Conference organized by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

In response to a question about where to find the next generation of specialists to work on nuclear weapons issues, Rose Gottemoeller, the U.S. undersecretary of state for arms control, and Lassina Zerbo, executive secretary of the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organization, both stated explicitly that they look to hire students educated by the Monterey NPTS M.A. program, CNS, and CNS director Bill Potter.
